They managed to predict world events to a scarily accurate degree.
Check this out:
1. “Between now and 2015 terrorist tactics will become increasingly sophisticated and designed to achieve mass casualties.”
This has certainly been proven to be true. Within months of this being written the attack on the twin towers had happened. And many more people have died throughout the world as a result of terrorist attacks.
2. “The world population will grow by more than one billion, to 7.2 billion.”
They got this bang on.
This is completely true. There have been hundreds of new oil wells discovered recently which has led to a fall in the oil price and the cancellation of many fracking projects.
4. “Europe will not achieve fully the dreams of parity with the US as a shaper of the global economic system.”
In 1999 the euro had just been introduced and many had predicted that the new currency might rival that of the United States. However it hasn’t even come close to matching it’s rival across the pond and doesn’t look like it will do so any time soon.
5. “Governments will have less and less control over flows of information, technology, diseases, migrants, arms, and financial transactions, whether licit or illicit,”
This couldn’t be more true. The flow of migrants across Europe over the last couple of years has been the largest movement of people since the second world war. The internet has also led to huge amounts of classified information being available at the click of a button.
They also believed that genetically modified food would have progressed far more than it has and would have alleviated famine across the globe. If you want to view the full report head over to The Telegraphs website.
