If you’ve ever gotten a tattoo, you know that scheduling an appointment can be a little daunting, especially for an in-demand artist. Typically, tattoo artists see several clients a day, and while they may want to know the deeper meaning behind them, the sheer amount of work usually prevents them from getting too involved. For most people, artists and clients alike, that’s enough. But not for Ondrej Konupcik, a tattoo artist from the Czech Republic who goes by the name of Ondrash.

Konupcik only sees one client per day, which means that although his waiting list is long, his tattoos are nothing short of perfect.

His watercolor style seems spontaneous and free, but it’s actually carefully planned and rendered for each client.

Konupcik has made a name for himself not only for his talent, but for the deep concern he shows his clients, getting to know them and their stories on a personal level so that he can craft a tattoo that’s perfectly unique and tailored to their history, personality, and style.

It might seem intense (and it is), but clients are thrilled to receive this kind of individualized attention and to get something that captures what they really want.

“He wasn’t satisfied with my response to his ‘what’s the meaning of this tattoo’ question because that didn’t give him anything to work with,” one of his clients recalls.

“He needed the story behind it… By asking me to tell him more about myself, he was able to pick something that inspired him. It was so different from my original idea…yet he presented me with something even better. How awesome is it that he was able to create something that I couldn’t even imagine from the words that I spoke to him?”

“I work on one customer a day so I have enough time for each person,” Konupcik says.

You also won’t find any flash art (the images that come premade in catalogues) in his studio; everything is 100% unique and personal.

To create the images, he first sits down with the client and discusses the idea, and then draws out the design directly onto the client’s body.

That way, he says, the tattoo fits and flows with the unique shape of their body.
