There are few animals in the world that can’t be considered cute. Even those that aren’t the most attractive are somehow adorable, but the world’s tiniest animals, and smaller versions of their traditional counterparts, truly steal the show when it comes to absolute adorableness! The mouse lemur was believed to be the smallest primate on earth – that is, until the pygmy mouse lemur, pictured above and thought to be extinct, was discovered. Its head and body grow to less than two and a half inches.

The smallest mammal on the planet, this tiny bat weighs less than 2 grams. Its body is about the size of a large bumblebee, hence the common name “bumblebee bat.”

An American miniature horse can’t be more than 34 inches, or 86 centimeters, tall at the withers, according to the International Museum of the Horse. This particularly adorable miniature horse, Einstein, a pinto stallion, weighed just six pounds and measured about 14 inches at birth. Today, he’s dwarfed even by a dog – well, a Saint Bernard dog anyway.

Not only are these tiny horses extremely adorable, they’re known for their docile nature, which makes them excellent for working with people in need, including the blind.
