This Furniture Looks Sleek And Modern, But It's Actually A Mind-Bending Experience

Searching for furniture that defies expectations while still looking modern and stylish? Look no further than the Debut collection from Studio Isabell Gatzen, which takes inspiration from the drawings of M.C. Escher.

Made of materials like glass, marble, and aluminum, they’re like pieces of minimalist sculpture with a practical twist. They also come with cheeky names that let us know the designers don’t take their creations too seriously.

“Don’t Screw With Me” shelves can be put together without using screws or anything of the like.

The white shelves are made from heavy Parthenon marble, and the supports are made from anodized aluminum. Every component is engineered so that the piece is self-supporting.

“See Right Through Me” mirrors come in sets of three.

They can be arranged in a variety of ways so that the reflections — and lack thereof — take on interesting patterns and shapes.

“Hook Me Up” is a glass-topped table with an interlocking marble base.

This is what the marble legs of the “Hook Me Up” table look like before assembly. Locked together, they form what’s called a burr joint, which evenly distributes force to support the heavy glass top.

“721 Grams” candlesticks feature modular brass candle holders that weigh 721 grams each.

This piece was inspired by traditional candleholders and the use of candles in celebrations, ceremonies, and events. Since they come with various interlocking pieces, you can change the design whenever you want.
