Dog saves owner and helps spread important message, all thanks to one woman from Tempe, Arizona who shared a personal moment with the world in order to spread awareness about Asperger’s Syndrome. She posted a full-length video via YouTube of her dog saving her from self-harm during a violent breakdown. The brave woman is 24-year-old Danielle Jacobs, first diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome in 2013.
According to the DSM-5, Asperger’s is a disorder on the autism spectrum. Jacobs posted the video in order to help spread awareness about her condition, which affects around 1% of the world’s total population. She wrote, “…people with Asperger’s or autism are like a computer. There’s too much input not enough output – [you] lose power and crash.”
To help prevent her from self-harming during her breakdowns she trained her Rottweiler named Samson to do the trick. Beneath her YouTube video Jacobs writes, “This is what having aspergers is like this is what’s considered a meltdown…I trained him to alert to depressive episodes and self harm not both but he alerted. It appears the response is late but it’s actually supposed to be as I’m coming out of the meltdown as I tend to have a panic attack after.”
4-year-old Samson is pretty impressive, and he has even passed the CGCA, CGC and PAT. Jacobs adopted Samson through the HALO animal rescue in Phoenix, after adopting the awesome dog she began training him immediately.

Due to her condition she sometimes suffers from anxiety and panic attacks. To help cope she decided to rescue and adopt a dog she named Samson.
Jacobs trained Samson to react whenever she has a violent meltdown, like the one she caught on camera.
