You could travel 'Around the World' for the price of Daft Punk's helmets! How much do they cost?

If you've ever wanted to own a helmet from the robo-duo electronic band Daft Punk, you better hope you get lucky with the lottery! It cost an astounding $65,000 to produce the fancy helmets that help conceal the musicians' identities and give them that unique edge on the competition. You can't put a price on cool!

When Daft Punk (Parisian musicians Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter) first began in the 90s, they opted for silly Halloween masks. They quickly evolved to intricate robotic masks with the help of the now-defunct LED specialist company LED FX. Each helmet featured screens that were able to display text and sync images and patterns to music. They were a band and light show all in one!

According to a 'Fader Magazine' interview, the duo was able to see out of the helmets via pin-sized holes that were placed right in front of their eyes. Small ventilation holes at the front base allowed proper airflow for breathing.

Backpacks were required to store the processors and power for the helmets, which contained black ribbed tubes filled with wires. Both of the helmets came with "gauntlets," or gloves, that had illuminated buttons that controlled the saved animations.

For all the things these helmets did for their career, it's safe to say the initial investment was a smart one!
