The Nazis got closer to making super soldiers than I ever realized! Find out how

During the period of the World Wars, the Nazis tested laboratory-made drugs that were designed with the purpose of increasing the stamina of their soldiers. What they were able to produce created such great results that the subjects victim to the experimentations were able to march 55 miles without rest.

The drug was comprised of 5 milligrams of oxycodone, designed to relieve severe pain, 5 milligrams of cocaine, and 3 milligrams of methamphetamine.

They could perform their impressive feats even while wearing 44 pound packs. The Nazis had planned to distribute the drug in pill form, but the war efforts were ended before it could ever reach the stages of mass production. It did, however, see limited use among a handful of Neger and Biber (torpedo and small submarine) pilots, who were often subject to intense and lengthy missions where endurance was a must.

This strange, eerie experiment carried many symptoms, and would have been a frightening thing to face on the battlefield. Wolf Kemper, the man who discovered the remains of the project, said that the aim of the drug, dubbed D-IX was to redefine the limits of human endurance.
