Remember when you were a kid and a simple 4-5 hour trip in the car seemed to take an eternity or two? No amount of music, books, or portable video games could handle just how bored you were to be sitting in one place for so long. Well, imagine boarding a train and then realizing you're on the longest train ride on the planet. Hope you brought your favorite novel along!
In 2010 people were excited about the prospect of a high-speed rail line from London to Beijing in just about two days. Little did people realize that there is a much longer train route—though it will take much longer than two days.
The longest uninterrupted train ride stretches from the Portuguese coast to the southern end of Vietnam—completing a 10,566 mile journey. Of course, it takes some creative planning, plenty of free time, and a loaded wallet to complete. One of the transfers includes an 18 hour and 25 minute layover in Moscow!
The journey takes about 327 hours to complete and you'd come in at about $2,000 poorer after the journey. If you look into this you may need to consider a new hobby!
