There are a number of banned Pokémon episodes. Some have sent kids to the hospital!

The Pokémon animated series is one of the longest running cartoon shows ever.

In the course of over 12 years of episodes, there have been a number of them that were either never aired, pulled from rotation or censored.

Here's a few of them:

• Electric Soldier Porygon. The most famous one. A sequence in the episode made a few hundred Japansese kids go to the hospital suffering from an epileptic attack. The episode was later modified to prevent those problems.


• Beauty and the Beach. This one showed James from Team Rocket wearing a woman's bikini, complete with real looking boobs! This episode aired in the US with a lot of cuts to make it less controversial.


• The Legend of Dratini. In this episode, a gun was fired at actual human characters. It was decided that wasn't appropriate. Not airing this one caused continuity issues because Ash caught a few of his pokmon in this episode.


• The Ice Cave. Jynx is featured in this episode. Some people believe that she looks too much like it's a pokémon in blackface. Because of this, it was decided not to air it in the United States.
