World War II was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945. It involved the vast majority of the world’s nations, including all great powers, eventually forming two opposing military alliances: The allies and the Axis.
It was the most widespread war in history, with more than 100 million people serving in military units from over 30 different countries.
Marked by mass deaths of civilians, including the Holocaust and the only use of nuclear weapons in warfare, it resulted an estimated 50 million to 85 million fatalities. These deaths make World War II the deadliest conflict in human history.
The Holocaust was certainly one of the major events that marked this war, generating millions of deaths by the Nazi emporium. Good thing is that there were people who did what they could to save as many Jews as possible.
For instance, a polish woman risked her life to conceal a Jewish man and his wife because the man once let her take some good from his shop when she didn’t have enough money to pay him!
Simple acts of kindness can save lifes.
